Week 49? Seriously?
This is crazy. I can’t believe another year is almost done. I’m running behind this holiday season, as usual. My best friend and her WIFE (yay! they just got married) visited over the weekend and we stayed in, drank coffee and wine, ate good food, and in the middle of all that, I got my fall decorations taken down and my Christmas decorations put up. It was a very productive weekend. I was shocked to look at my fitbit at the end of both Saturday and Sunday to see over 20k steps each day. FROM DECORATING. Nuts, man. Nuts.

337/365: Thursday, December 3rd. 12-03-2015

338/365: Friday, December 4th. This is the poorest quality, grainiest picture I took at our little friend Mariana’s 7th birthday party, but that face. Look at the pure joy and excitement as we prepared to sing the birthday song to her. Sweetest little lady.12-04-2015

339/365: Saturday, December 5th. I hate putting lights on the tree. Hate it. Least favorite thing to do during the holidays, hands down. I was excited to eliminate a dozen or more cardboard boxes and re-organize ALL of my decorations – Easter in one box, Valentine’s Day in another, and so on. No more cardboard. No more mixed up holidays. I got that light wreath half off last year after Christmas and I think it looks fantastic.12-05-2015

340/365: Sunday, December 6th. Dexter wore pajamas all day Saturday and most of the day Sunday. My little homebody. He insisted on helping Daddy put the star on the top of the tree. 12-06-2015

341/365: Monday, December 7th. Abominable snowman finger puppet is all the rage this holiday season. They are taking turns sleeping with it every night. My favorite thing about this picture is his perfectly precious little silhouette on the wall.12-07-2015

342/365: Tuesday, December 8th. Tuesday night Library trip selections. 12-08-2015

343/365: Wednesday, December 9th. The mantel and hearth are decorated and looking so cozy. Since it was 60 degrees today, we didn’t have a fire in the fireplace but we will get it going sometime before Christmas.12-09-2015

As much as I hate decorating and putting it all away, I do love the house full of twinkling lights and festive snowmen, Santas, and sparkles. Glittersplosion 2015.

We had a wonderful long weekend and Thanksgiving break. A little getaway and time with family was just what we needed. We visited Ryan’s sister Michelle, her husband Bob, and our nephew Spencer in Ohio.

330/365: Thursday, November 26th. Thanksgiving Day. The boys’ cousin Spencer was at his Dad’s all day. We spent a lot of time outside…the weather was absolutely unbelievable. I keep saying this is the nicest fall I can remember in the past 12 years I’ve lived in Indiana. Right in line with that, this was the most amazing weather I can ever remember on Thanksgiving. We sat and played outside and enjoyed a non-traditional meal of meatloaf and homemade mac & cheese for dinner. 11-26-2015

331/365: {Black} Friday, November 27th. Michelle & Bob had to work. Meanwhile, we skipped the shopping lines and stood in line for popcorn, slushes, and candy at the local movie theater instead. We saw The Good Dinosaur and loved it. It was such a good story of friendship and I cringe to say it, but I might have liked it more than Inside Out, which I loved too. But The Good Dinosaur went by so fast, I couldn’t believe it was ending so soon. I remember certain parts of Inside Out dragging a bit. The 2 are not similar in any way, I’m just comparing because it was the last big Disney movie we were excited to see shortly after opening day at the theater. Theo and Dexter look up to Spencer so much – he is their idol.11-27-2015

332/365: Saturday, November 28th. Finally – Thanksgiving FEAST! We decided to wait until Saturday to cook our big Thankgsiving meal since Spencer was gone Thursday and Michelle and Bob had to work Friday. It was well worth the wait. Not the prettiest plate of food, but for sure the tastiest. Oof, it’s making me hungry all over again.11-28-2015

333/365: Sunday, November 29th. We got home from Cincinnati around noon and I gave the boys their Beast Buds (air plants) by Mixie Studio. I bought them at the Crafty Supermarket in Cincinnati Saturday morning, thinking they’d be cute Christmas gifts. Duh, someone needs to take care of them between now and then. So, I busted them out when we got home. Initially, Theo was ticked that his had pink lips and hearts on his face. I got ticked at him for being so ungrateful and said I’d take the Beast. Then he changed his tune and named Mr. Pink Lips “Ethan Charles.” Dexter named his “Blueberrier.” They just need 3 things: 1. Sun. 2. Water. 3. Love. So far, so good.11-29-2015

334/365: Monday, November 30th. Fleece footies and a friendly game of Mancala before bed. 11-30-2015

335/365: Tuesday, December 1st. Cue major freakout because OMG it’s December and OMG that means there are only 3+ weeks until Christmas. CRAAP. We knocked a couple of gifts off our shopping list and then stopped by our friends’ house for a short visit between school and dinner at home. Why so serious, baby Charlotte? 11 weeks old – she is growing fast.12-01-2015

336/365: Wednesday, December 2nd. Well, this was an unexpected treat! Which explains the grainy phone photo. But I couldn’t just take a picture with my DSLR for the sake of it and not share this with you for this day’s photo. Theo’s school had a Santa Shop tonight. The kids got to buy some (terrible) gifts for their loved ones..haha..have milk & cookies, write a letter to Santa, sit with Santa, AND wrap their gifts. It was a really nice free event (aside from the optional crappy gifts) put on by the PTO. Loving Theo’s school!12-02-2015

It’s crunch time! Time to decorate, shop, wrap, and celebrate…I cannot believe it’s December 2nd.

Happy Thanksgiving, friends & family! I hope you’re surrounded by the people you care about the most. We will be spending time together with family and taking a much needed break from our ongoing kitchen remodeling project, which has been in high gear for the last few weeks. Initially the thought of being gone all weekend gave me anxiety. There’s a laundry list of things I want to get done before the end of the year but, at this point, it is what it is. What doesn’t get done in 2015 will get done…eventually. I’m looking forward to relaxing and laughing and eating and drinking and being merry for a few days.

323/365: Thursday, November 19th. Ryan has literally been spending all of his time at home working on our kitchen. I’ve been busy taking care of the boys – playing with them, feeding them, entertaining them, bathing them, and putting them to bed. They miss their daddy and vice versa but we’re all making sacrifices to get things done! Especially our good friends James & Erin who had been apart every night since James started the job. Luckily for James, he is done with this job but the work continues on for us around here! With all that being said, I’ve been super impressed at how well Theo is understanding games with complex instructions. Games for 8 year olds. I know I’ve said it since the day he was born, but I really feel like we are in such an enjoyable stage of parenting these boys. Every stage has been my favorite. So far. 🙂11-19-2015

324/365: Friday, November 20th. Speaking of Erin and James, Erin and the kids came along for a little play-date while Ryan and James worked last Friday night. We tossed our ideas about reasonable bedtimes out the window and had fun hanging out and catching up. What’s going on in this picture: Theo is not impressed that Kennedy tore a little piece of paper out of a coloring book and Dexter is investigating. I probably made some smart remark to Theo about it and Erin’s laughing at me. Love these people.11-20-2015

325/365: Saturday, November 21st. James and Ryan back at it…The boys and I ran errands and I tried to do some chores around the house. Theo and Dexter have really been playing well together lately. Saturday night they set up a huge Batman meets Rescue Bots meets Marvel meets Star Wars scene. Material for an epic movie right here. Have I mentioned this before? They’re cute. And awesome.11-21-2015

326/365: Sunday, November 22nd. Grouted and wiped down! BOOM! I’m falling in love with my kitchen that I once hated. Just a few more steps (new lighting, a custom-built booth, replacing all the baseboards, buying barstools, installing our little TV for the breakfast bar) and our kitchen will be complete. 11-22-2015

327/365: Monday, November 23rd. I decided to take some pictures of Sylvie because (A) I rarely ever do and because (B) I truly thought this might be our last night with her. She’s been throwing up a lot and pooping outside of her litter box on occasion. She barely eats and at barely 5 pounds, she’s lost weight consistently for the last 3 years. She’s 11 years old and although that’s not super old, she hasn’t seemed healthy for a long time. A trip to the vet a year or so ago told us nothing – that she was healthy, that all her problems were behavioral and related to our other cat, and that she would live a long time. Well…we love her and we have tried the vet’s suggestions but she continues to puke. We don’t love cleaning puke off of the TV cords or couch or carpet or behind the couch on a daily basis. Ryan took her to the vet on Tuesday and the vet gave us some medicine and more ideas to see if we can get her to gain some weight and get better hydration. Hoping things turn around and she feels better soon.11-23-2015

328/365: Tuesday, November 24th. A pretty sunrise on my drive to work.11-24-2015

329/365: Wednesday, November 25th. The boys were both out of school so I took the day off. We played at home, did a few chores, went out for lunch, and then painted some pottery. It was their first time and it went about like I expected. I was very busy squirting paint, switching brushes, touching up mistakes, and running from one side of the table to the other. It wasn’t quite as relaxing as I remembered it from the last time I went (definitely over 6 years ago) but it was a great time with my buddies and a new experience for them. 11-25-2015

This time next week we’ll be well into the push towards Christmas and everything that has to get done between now and then – shew lawdy.
