catch the moment: week thirty-nine

We’ve had another fun and busy week that went by way too fast.  We are enjoying the nice weather by getting outside a lot and hanging out with friends before it’s too cold to be running here and there.  We are also still working around the house, trying to make some progress on our kitchen remodel.

I’m linking up with again this week with CTM 365 hostesses:

267/365: Wednesday, September 24th. Popsicles in the bathtub because why not!?9-24-14

268/365: Thursday, September 25th. We met a little friend from Dexter’s class at the park. What a funny and handsome little guy!9-25-14

269/365: Friday, September 26th. Picking out tile for a backsplash is very complicated. And time-consuming. 9-26-14

270/365: Saturday, September 27th. We spent the afternoon celebrating a friend’s birthday at the apple orchard.  It was such a fun party idea – who needs crappy plastic toys and candy when you can have a peck of hand-picked apples for party favors instead? None of us had ever picked apples before so it was an extra special and fun experience.9-27-14

271/365: Sunday, September 28th. The boys and I visited some friends again on Sunday to get out of the house while Ryan worked in the kitchen.  I was dying laughing, watching Theo and his buddy smash their faces against the side of this little bounce house. So funny!9-28-14

272/365: Monday, September 29th.  So what do you do with all those apples? Make homemade applesauce, of course! This was just a simple recipe I found on Pinterest, but it was delicious! 9-29-14

273/365: Tuesday, September 30th. Miles of tiles to choose from…like I said. It’s complicated.9-30-14

And just like that, another month is over.  Gah.  This week, my favorite pictures are the one of Theo at the orchard (270) and the one of the boys together in the bathtub (267).  Which one do you like best?

catch the moment 365: week thirty-four

Whoa, this might be a new Guinness Book world record for fewest pictures in a week of my boys…

Linking up with these lovelies for week 34 of Catch the Moment 365:

  1. Mindi from Simply Stavish
  2. Sarah from Nurse Loves Farmer
  3. Stephanie from Behind the Camera and Dreaming

232/365: August 20th. The sun trying to bust through a very foggy morning on my drive to work.8-20-14

233/365: August 21st. Watching a little Disney Jr before school.8-21-14

234/365: August 22nd. A 40th birthday party for our good friend Alfredo. I just love this picture of him and Brandy.  You’d never know these lovebirds had been married for 13 years. Such a sweet couple and some of our closest friends.8-22-14

235/365: August 23rd. And we got to watch their youngest daughter for a few hours on Saturday, which meant a fun trip to the splash pad on a hot, hot Saturday.8-23-14

236/365: August 24th. Our good friends took us out on their boat and after another long, hot day of being in the sun, this was about as good of a picture as I could get of these three pals. We had a blast!8-24-14

237/365: August 25th. The boys preschool schedule has my work schedule a little upside down, meaning I go in earlier on Mondays and Fridays to make up for going in later the other three days.  The advantage is that on Mondays and Fridays, I’m able to see sunrises like this on the country backroads as I drive to …..8-25-14

238/365: August 26th. Franklin, Indiana. I had planned on getting a picture of this cute area of downtown Franklin and just as I took out my camera, this stretch rolled up and got in my shot…I didn’t have time to sit there and wait for it to move on so here’s a random moment in downtown Franklin for you. 8-26-14

So weird to only have three pictures of the boys this week! My favorite three pictures this week are day 234 (Brandy and Alfredo), 235 (because she’s so pretty), and 237 (that sunrise).

How about you – which one do you like best?

indiana state fair – 2014

A look back: state fair (2013) | state fair (2011)

First things first, we have this tradition every year that we go to the state fair (we didn’t make it there in 2012 due to being in the middle of remodeling our newly purchased home).  We take a photo inside a tractor tire. I love doing this – we have several photos that we take each year. I enjoy comparing year to year to see how the boys have grown and this is one of my favorites. Dexter hasn’t been too interested in participating with me so far. Maybe next year.

PicMonkey CollageIt’s wild to see the similarities and differences from year to year.

A pit stop at The Dairy Bar to grab a delicious grilled cheese sandwich. The boys had American on White while I enjoyed Pepper Jack on Sourdough.

Funhouse mirror fun:IMG_2333

Last year we were disappointed that we hadn’t planned ahead for the boys to see the Monster Truck show.  We failed to plan for it again this year, but felt lucky when we discovered that it was taking place Sunday during our visit.  The boys were extremely intrigued!IMG_2349 IMG_2356 IMG_2361 IMG_2362   They enjoyed it for a while but after about 45 minutes, Theo’d had enough of the loud engines and was begging to go.  Ryan and I pouted a little and Dexter just goes with the flow so he didn’t protest. Wouldn’t you know, it wasn’t long before Mr. Grumpy Pants was passed out, fast asleep.

Since Theo kind of ruined the Monster Truck show for the rest of us, we rewarded Dexter’s good behavior by allowing him to choose a ride to ride. I was not planning to do any rides – I’m just not a fan of fair rides – I don’t trust them at all.  So this was a big deal for me, letting him ride these darn boats!IMG_2455

Theo continued sleeping for a bit longer so he missed out on the meet n greet with this Dino.  Dex was ALL ABOUT it until we got in line. Then he said “I want you to go with me, Mommy. I want you to hold me.” So I passed my camera off to Ryan and thank goodness I did… we were NOT expecting Dexter’s reaction when T-Rex roared and the lady pictured below tried to hand Dexter the dinosaur’s chain for our photo op.IMG_2472 IMG_2473It was so funny  and cute. He did get over it and smile towards the end of this brief interaction but those pictures weren’t as adorable.  After about six and a half hours we wrapped up our day at the fair. Another Midwest annual tradition done and in the books!
