catch the moment: Wk.24

What a week! It’s been a blur of nonstop activity; a balanced mix of fun and obligation. But another week has flown by, nonetheless, and we’re almost to the halfway point of 2015 already. This week I finished up my series of recaps from our Walt Disney World vacation last month, including how we celebrated Dexter’s birthday and our last couple of days. I’m glad to be caught up on the posts but it’s just made me want to plan our next trip!! I love distracting myself with thoughts of my family making even more fun memories and having new adventures. Oh, daydreams. Back to reality – this summer (which technically has not even started as I write this post) is zipping by. We have plans almost every weekend in the foreseeable future, despite my attempts to keep some of our time free. That’s okay – it will just take us a little longer to get those pesky household projects done.

162/365: Thursday, June 11th. It was a hot, humid afternoon so I was surprised that the boys wanted to go out into the backyard and “hunt bugs,” but we did. We were only out there 5 minutes before Theo asked if we could explore the trails at a nearby park. So we walked to the park and took our time, tossing rocks in the creek and looking for bugs. It was a really fun nature walk and they didn’t complain at all about walking so far. P.S. I made sure to let Ryan know he’d be picking us up at the park before we made the long-for-little-legs journey. My Fitbit loved it and so did I.06-11-2015

163/365: Friday, June 12th. We had a quick and ferocious storm blow through our town Friday night and at about 7pm, we went outside to check out the damage. We had a few large tree limbs snap in the wind and zillions of sticks on the driveway and in the yard. We felt extremely lucky that none of it damaged our home. 06-12-2015

164/365: Saturday, June 13th. We met up with friends at Children’s Museum Indianapolis. I think I posted a picture of one or both of them playing in this sand the last time we went, but the light in this room is so nice that I couldn’t resist. And look at these bros, they are so cute – when they’re getting along. 06-13-2015

165/365: Sunday, June 14th. I was too busy having fun floating around on a raft with a drink in my hand to worry about taking pictures at the lake but this was the aftermath around 6pm. I felt very much the same! Being in the sun all day zapped the whole family.06-14-2015

166/365: Monday, June 15th. Cue the “it’s late, I forgot to take a picture, and I don’t care” photo. But seriously. This deserves to be documented. That get well soon balloon is from Dexter’s hospital stay April 29th – 30th. 7 weeks later and still going strong! The rest are from our little birthday celebration for Dexter on 5/30. Good thing I paid extra for “high float” so they’d last up to 48 hours. 06-15-2015

167/365: Tuesday, June 16th. Random, yes, but I just love the door to the building where we drop off the boys for summer camp. It’s a charming and stunning old house. I especially love the character of the chipped, layered red paint.06-16-2015

168/365: Wednesday, June 17th. The McDan Fam just upped the ante on our home fitness! These Bowflex weights are adjustable from 5 to 52.5 pounds apiece. They arrived today and they are awesome! 06-17-2015

This week, my favorite photos are the ones of Theo and Dexter playing in the sand and the doorknob. What’s your favorite?

I’m linking up with Mindi,Stephanie, and Carrie for week 24 of Catch the Moment.

Catch the Moment: Wk.23

The boys have almost finished their second week of summer camp and they are getting used to the routine. So far it has been a good transition for them. I said something to Theo when we were at the YMCA the other day about one of the preschool classrooms there along the lines of “do you think it would be fun to go here?” He said “Meh, I don’t know. I like MY summer camp.” Shew, relief. They love telling me all about their day when I pick them up but that extra little bit of reassurance was refreshing to receive. Funny how as a kid, I wanted reassurance from adults. Were they ever looking for reassurance from me?

As always, I’m linking up with Mindi,Stephanie, and Carrie for week 23 of Catch the Moment.

155/365: Thursday, June 4th. Water play fun in the front yard. 06-04-2015

156/365: Friday, June 5th. We stopped by the mall because I read on a Disney fan facebook page that Journeys got a bunch of Disney Vans and I wanted to check them out for myself. I didn’t buy any – I’m not sure I could bring myself to wear them anywhere other than at Disney World. But maybe. Anyway, we let the boys play in the little Simon mall playground; we were amazed at how big they look there now. I remember taking them when they were the smallest ones and I was scared that these “big kids” were going to trample them. Now they are probably the subject of some new-ish mom’s worry as they run and jump from one structure to the next without a care in the world!06-05-2015

157/365: Saturday, June 6th. The White River Township Fire Department Strawberry Festival – our FOURTH year! I blogged about it HERE.06-06-2015

158/365: Sunday, June 7th. Pool day! Tiny feet in tiny Tevas – doesnt get much cuter than that.06-07-2015

159/365: Monday, June 8th. Over the weekend, Ryan and I worked on grouting the backsplash in the kitchen. Now it’s ready for caulk and sealer, but Sunday night a few tiny little ants made an appearance around the sink. Welcome, summer. These little traps seem to be doing the trick. So ready for my kitchen to be done!06-08-2015

160/365: Tuesday, June 9th. I told Theo we need to get back on top of his “homework,” or a Kindergarten readiness packet that was sent home after Kindergarten registration in April. He likes to huff and puff about having to do soooo muuuuch homework, but then once he starts, he doesn’t want to stop. Wonder how long that’ll last…06-09-2015

161/365: Wednesday, June 10th. I remembered two things at 9:40pm.  1- I hadn’t taken a picture yet. 2 – I signed up to make baked beans for a baby shower at work the next day and didn’t have any ingredients. So off to Kroger I went with my camera and a list. As much as I don’t ever want to go to the grocery at 10pm, it’s kind of peaceful there. And their floral department was lovely. And deserted. There was probably someone in an office somewhere watching security footage of me taking a million pictures of their bouquets. Oh well. I got my picture for the day. 06-10-2015That’s our week in 7 shots – which one do you like best? I love the one of Dexter with the water gun and the one of Theo doing his homework.

Catch the Moment: Wk.22

hello again.

It’s been a week full of Fs. Fun, friends, family, and festivities! Linking up with Mindi, Stephanie, and Carrie for week 22 of Catch the Moment.

148/365: Thursday, May 28th. Sweet little toes.05-28-2015

149/365: Friday, May 29th. The boys were out of school the week of Memorial Day and camp didn’t start til the next week so we had to piece together childcare for the whole week. Ryan stayed home a day, Ryan’s parents kept them 2 days for us, and I stayed home Friday. It worked well because Dexter had a dermatologist appointment that morning. Afterwards, we met up with friends, waited out a thunderstorm, then had some fun in the sun. 05-29-2015

150/365: Saturday, May 30th. We finally celebrated Dexter’s birthday with family and friends at the lake. Again, we waited through a thunderstorm before the clouds parted for a few glorious sunny hours on the water.  It was such a relaxing and fun-filled weekend.05-30-2015

151/365: Sunday, May 31st. After we got home from my in-laws’ and I ran a few errands, the weekend was winding down. Snuggles on the couch before getting ready for bed and the first day of summer camp.05-31-2015

152/365: Monday, June 1st. What else could I expect when I asked them to smile nicely? Eh, that’s alright…this is the real Theo & Dexter. Silly faces, fart noises, tongues out, and muddy shoes – they are my little boys through and through. Good news – they seem to love their new summer camp so far. Shew. 06-01-2015

153/365: Tuesday, June 2nd. Lazy photo night. Yummy dinner night. Chili & grilled cheese!06-02-2015

154/365: Wednesday, June 3rd. Well, well. Look who we have here. Some of our closest friends welcomed sweet Kennedy Noelle in the wee hours of the morning. We were over the moon in love and through the roof excited to make her acquaintance. Perfect ending to this post, but just the beginning of getting to know this little lady. My favorite picture for this week by a million miles. (That’s Dexter’s gigantic-looking hand next to hers). 06-03-2015xo,
