a (snowy) day in the life

This week’s bonus challenge for my Catch the Moment 365 project was to capture “a day in the life.” I should probably do a work day, but that’d probably be even MORE boring than a typical weekend day in our lives. It was kind of easy to do the challenge today since we didn’t go anywhere due to the 8 inches of snow that got dumped on us overnight. BOO!

I did this challenge a year ago (HERE) and enjoyed looking back at it. Dexter especially looks so little!

MORNING.

Breakfast…breakfast…what should (can) I fix for breakfast?

aditl01

Coffee & crayons while waiting for breakfast.aditl02

Blueberry biscuits and chicken sausage.aditl03

Coloring…drawing…writing…always.aditl04

Fresh out of the bathtub with some suave looking hair.aditl05

“Dexter, show me your blue eyes.”aditl06

Lord Business. Legos…always Legos. aditl07

Folding laundry and running the vacuum.aditl08

Decorated a little bit for Easter/springtime.aditl09

Found something else to get us in a less snowy state of mind.aditl10

Dexter helped get the cookies ready to bake while I worked on chili for lunch.aditl11

Can’t forget the cheese and crackers.aditl12

Aftermath.aditl13

AFTERNOON.

Obsessed with letters and numbers.aditl14

More laundry…more folding and putting away.aditl15

Decorating some more for Easter with window decals.aditl16

Time for a little fitness. Ryan and I busted out some Jillian Michaels moves.aditl17

And the boys “watched a show” (jumped, wrestled, yelled, fought, laughed, etc) in our room while we did our 20 minute workout.aditl18

Random tortilla snack. aditl19

And back to coloring.aditl20

EVENING.

Sigh…so much snow. 8″ I think?aditl21

Dinner preppin’.aditl22

Dinner eatin’. Cubed steak & gravy, cheesy spirals, and asparagus. Mmm.aditl23

After dinner jammies and iPad time. More laundry.aditl24

More games, more laundry.aditl25

Lite Brite before bed. aditl26

And that takes us to about 8pm, which is when I started working on this post…don’t worry, you’re not going to miss much. I’m just gonna lay on the couch and watch TV for an hour or two then hit the hay.

This was fun to put together! I know I’ll appreciate seeing the small moments when I look back on this a year from now. Hope you enjoyed your day – and mine!

catch the moment: week 8

Our bitter cold and snowy February has continued on. Saturday we got the most snow we’ve seen all season – about 6 inches! My best friend in Nashville got some bad weather Friday night too, so with that combination I followed my gut and canceled our yearly girls-only weekend. I was super, super, super sad about it but made the best of the weekend anyway (after pouting all day Friday). The really fun, good, exciting news is that the boys got a new bed – a bunk bed! I am going to write a separate post about it and share a few pictures of their reaction and whatnot. It’s been really fun to watch their excitement about it, which has yet to wear off.

050/365: Thursday, February 19th. Bunk bed day! This was one of the many expressions on Theo’s face as he walked into his room to discover their new bed. As a parent, sometimes moments and your children’s reactions in certain situations are disappointing. Their reactions did not disappoint one bit. I was so happy, sharing in their joy and excitement.

051/365: Friday, February 20th. Dinner out at Cheddar’s. 02-20-2015

052/365: Saturday, February 21st. Our friend Layton turned 3! One good thing about me staying home was that I was still able to make it to his birthday party at 3pm. The roads were surprisingly clear by then, once we got off of neighborhood streets. We were all laughing because Layton wouldn’t wait for us to finish singing before blowing out his candle.02-21-2015

053/365: Sunday, February 22nd. Last minute playdates are the best! My friend was bored after her husband had been gone a few days on a ski trip and brought her kids over to play. So fun…I only wish they lived down the street instead of 45+ minutes away.02-22-2015

054/365: Monday, February 23rd. We had just gotten home and were waiting on Nana and Pop Pop to stop by to check out the boys’ new bed. What else would we be doing but playing Legos!?02-23-2015

055/365: Tuesday, February 24th. As much as I hate winter, I have to admit that it’s kind of pretty sometimes. Like out in the country where there are no 6′ tall piles of freshly plowed dirty snow. 02-24-2015

056/365: Wednesday, February 25th. A little coloring before school.02-25-2015So it turned out to be a pretty good week all in all. Everyone’s genuine smiles on day 52 might make that photo my favorite. I also like that winter scene. Which one do you like best?

catch the moment: week 7

I’ve been cautiously happy all winter long because our “winter” hasn’t been very white at all. We’ve even been able to go to the park and play outside a couple of times. Last year was so brutal that I have been pleasantly surprised day after day, week after week, and month after winter month that has gone by. Well….winter finally decided to show up here in Central Indiana. Arctic temps, snow, school closings and delays…you name it.  I am taking comfort in knowing that Spring is {technically} only 4 weeks away!

Linking up with Mindi at Stavish Stills Photography, Carrie at My Life, Our Journey, and Stephanie at Behind the Camera and Dreaming.  It’s never to late to join in or start your own 365.

043/365: Thursday, February 12th.  Since we learned a couple of years ago about the dangers of children wearing puffy coats in carseats, I always keep blankets in the car for the boys. I snapped this quick picture of Dexter snuggling with his warm crocheted blanket at school drop-off. 02-12-2015

044/365: Friday, February 13th. We had a little friend over and made a party of our Friday night with Valentine’s crafts and cookie decorating. What a mess, but WHAT FUN!02-13-2015

045/365: Saturday, February 14th. LOVE. Two of my favorite little loves opening a surprise basket from mommy and daddy on Valentine’s Day morning.02-14-2015

046/365: Sunday, February 15th. Bowling with friends. The boys were pretty into it! I ordered them a personal pizza to share about halfway through our game and I was shocked when they still wanted to take their turns between bites. 02-15-2015

047/365: Monday, February 16th. The beginning of “Winter Week.”02-16-2015

048/365: Tuesday, February 17th. Oh, okay. Hey there, teenager.02-17-2015

049/365: Wednesday, February 18th. Hanging out in the kitchen after school, the sun was beaming through the windows. I actually got hot sitting at the table with the boys playing play-doh. You would have never known it was single-digit-degrees out there. Weird weather day!02-18-2015This week, I love Dexter’s sweet little expressions on days 43 & 49! Which picture(s) do you like best?
